WIKIPEDIA DEFINING ART

...careers in the visual, creative, and applied arts, including design, media, fashion, and culinary programs.

The visual arts are a class of art forms, including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and others, that focus on the creation of works which are primarily visual in nature. Visual Arts that produce three-dimensional objects, such as sculpture and architecture are dealt with in plastic arts.

Arts or the Arts encompasses visual arts, performing arts, language arts, and culinary arts. Many artistic disciplines involve aspects of the visual arts as well as other types, so these definitions are not strict.

Applied arts refers to the application of design and aesthetics to objects of function and everyday use. Whereas fine arts serve as intellectual stimulation to the viewer or academic sensibilities, the applied arts incorporate design and creative ideals to objects of utility, such as a cup, magazine or decorative park bench.

The fields of industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design, decorative art and functional art are considered applied arts.

In a creative context, the fields of architecture and photography are considered applied arts.
