Sensorium Art Exhibit (Final Weekend!)
Runs through Sunday, January 28. Our senses and the apparatus in our brain—the sensorium—evoke emotional feelings of sympathy, appreciation, or gratitude, or something that is moving, heartwarming, or tender. Art Squared Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Friday, February 2 from 7-9pm. Art² (Art Squared) explores the synergy of art with mathematics, science, technology, and engineering. Symmetry, geometry, and measurement create artwork. Scientific disciplines inspire art—anatomy builds figure paintings, geology pervades landscapes, and meteorological events create drama. Call for Entry: Outdoors In
Digital entries due: Monday, February 12 by midnight. Art and nature have been closely linked from the time of cave drawings. Before the camera was in common usage, what we learned about the nature of things and our environment came largely through the work of artists. Artful 2018 Wall Calendar
Purchase Del Ray Artisans’ 2018 wall calendar for only $19, and you’ll enjoy 3-4 new pieces of art each month! The calendar also comes pre-printed with Del Ray community events from Del Ray Artisans, Del Ray Business Association, Del Ray Citizens Association, and more. Proceeds from this fundraiser support Del Ray Artisans, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Starting in January gallery hours are Fridays & Saturdays 12-9pm, Sundays & Thursdays 12-6pm.

Life Drawing - Open Sessions

- Wednesday, February 7 from 2-5pm (Short/Long Poses)
- Wednesday, February 7 from 6:30-9:30pm (Long Poses)
- Wednesday, February 21 from 2-5pm (Short/Long Poses)
- Wednesday, February 21 from 6:30-9:30pm (Long Poses)
These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Partners in Art
Monday, February 5 from 2-4pm. Looking for a chance to get together with other creative people to discuss art and exchange ideas? Gallery Without Walls at the Durant Arts Center
Runs through February 26. Del Ray Artisans' Gallery Without Walls program, in collaboration with the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts, presents an open theme art exhibit of member artists’ work at the Durant Arts Center (1605 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314). Call for Entry: Reinvention at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital
Digital entries due: Monday, February 26 by midnight. Del Ray Artisans' Gallery Without Walls program challenges artists to look at the “bones” from one of their own prior pieces and reinvent it with a new message/color scheme or we invite you to reinvent yourself as an artist by working in a medium outside your comfort zone. Open only to Del Ray Artisans members. No entry fee. The exhibit runs from March 4 - June 10, 2018 at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital. Call for Proposals: 2019 Art Exhibits at Del Ray Artisans
Proposals due: Sunday, July 1 by midnight. Del Ray Artisans is currently soliciting show proposals for 2019. Del Ray Artisans strives to offer exhibits that reach a broad and diverse audience, encourage artistic development, and represent a wide variety of art forms. The show proposal committee will review all proposals and make recommendations to the Board for final approval. Curating & Curator Support
- Seeking Curating Apprentice
Are you interested in learning about exhibit curating at Del Ray Artisans? Are you looking for a way to get more involved? Would you like a volunteer position that would also bump up your art resume? The Director of Curating is looking for an apprentice to shadow her and learn the ropes, with the eventual goal of assuming her position. - Curate/Coordinate an Exhibit outside the Gallery
Del Ray Artisans’ Gallery Without Walls program is seeking volunteers to coordinate exhibits with specific venues. The program is flexible to incorporate your ideas and value your time. Contact Eileen at GWW@DelRayArtisans.org and Kathy at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org

- Event Photography
Seeking volunteers to take photos of Del Ray Artisans events for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Volunteer to photograph opening receptions, workshops, regular programs, or markets. We are hoping for around 10-20 photos from each event. Contact David at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
- Photographers Needed to Document Shows
Seeking volunteers to take photos of each piece of artwork in a show (as well as some overall gallery shots) for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Contact David at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
- Photograph Processing
Seeking volunteers to process photos for our Flickr Photostream. Task involves cropping, downsizing, color correcting (if needed), and adding meta data (e.g. artist name, title, media, price, show). Must have Photoshop or comparable application. Contact David at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
- Seeking Videographer / Film Maker
Seeking a volunteer to record a Del Ray Artisans workshop and edit for online viewing. Alternative option is to create an online course explaining an art or art-related activity. Contact John at VP@DelRayArtisans.org

Target Gallery Exhibitions – 2018 Open Call for Solo Exhibition
Deadline: Sunday, February 4, 2018. This is an open call for proposals for an exhibition in the summer of 2018 at the Target Gallery Torpedo Factory. This call is open to emerging or mid-career artists from North America working in all visual media. Exhibition is May 25 - July 15, 2018. Alexandria Arts Program Grant Applications
Due February 23, 2018. Alexandria is accepting applications from individual artists as well as groups. Application must be online as well as hard copy. Grant funds are available to eligible arts organizations and individual artists for operations, programs and special projects that occur in Alexandria between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. Online application forms, instructions, and frequently asked questions for all grant programs will be available online at www.alexandriava.gov/Arts on January 2, 2018.
