H20/WATERWORKS Art Exhibit Opening Reception (Tonight)

Friday, November 4 from 7-9pm. Del Ray Artisans member artists present a visual exploration of humankind’s relationship to water, or lack thereof, through 2D and 3D media. They express water’s effect on us and our effect on water, for enjoyment, health, political, ecological and environmental outcomes. The exhibit runs November 4-27, 2016. 2017 Calendar

Artful 2017 Wall Calendar

The 2017 calendars featuring artwork by talented Del Ray Artisans members are arriving this afternoon at the gallery! Pre-populated events include Del Ray Artisans' programs, community events (from Del Ray Business Association, Del Ray Citizens Association, and Del Ray Artisans), national holidays, and major Christian, Jewish, and Muslim religious holidays. Calendars will not be shipped; you must pick up in person. Pre-orders will be packaged this afternoon and ready for pick up by the opening reception tonight. Proceeds benefit Del Ray Artisans. A.C. Moore Fundraising Day for Del Ray Artisans

Friday, November 18 from 9am-9pm. You can raise money for Del Ray Artisans while stocking up on your art and craft supplies for the winter! On November 18 from 9am to 9pm, A.C. Moore shoppers who bring in the FUNDRAISE flier, or show it on their phone, will have 10% of their purchase donated to Del Ray Artisans! Hiring Assistant Office Manager

Del Ray Artisans’ Personnel Committee is seeking to hire an Assistant Office Manager for the organization. This is a paid position on Thursdays and Fridays, 12-6 pm. Position entails greeting visitors and general office work with emphasis on organizational skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Life Drawing - Open Sessions

  • Wednesday, November 9 from 2-5pm (Short/Long Pose)
  • Wednesday, November 9 from 6:30-9:30pm (Long Pose)

These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Fine Art & Fine Craft Holiday Market

Join us the first 3 weekends in December for the 21st Annual Holiday Market! The market offers original, fine art and fine crafts by local artists. Different artists are featured each weekend! Local Flavor Revisited Art Exhibit

Runs through January 29, 2017. Del Ray Artisans' Gallery Without Walls and VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital present Local Flavor Revisited, showcasing member artwork that highlight the things they adore, crave, and experience in their beloved neck of the woods. The artwork is displayed in the waiting areas and examination rooms of VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital (2660 Duke Street, Alexandria VA). Details: DelRayArtisans.org/exhibits

  • Seeking Volunteers for current Outreach and Grants & Sponsorship Board Seats
    There are 2 current vacancies on the Board: Outreach Director and Grants & Sponsorship Director. These are rewarding ways to meet your volunteer commitment. Interested members should contact Kim Joy at President@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Adopt-a-Park: Pick Up Litter
    Del Ray Artisans volunteers pick up litter in Colasanto Park, which is a part of the City of Alexandria's Adopt-a-Park program. Inspections are on Mondays, so Sunday is the best pick-up day but not a hard rule. We need volunteers to sign up for weekends now through November 30. If you are interested in assisting, contact Marlin with your preferred weekend at AdoptAPark@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Online Posting of Del Ray Artisans Exhibits & Events
    The web posting team needs you! We're looking for volunteers to post exhibit and event information to Virginia.org and Northern Virginia Magazine websites. Web posting can be done from home at your convenience. It doesn't take a lot of time and is an easy way to earn volunteer hours. If interested, please contact Betsy at egmead@gmail.com

  • Curate/Coordinate an Exhibit outside the Gallery
    Del Ray Artisans’ Gallery Without Walls program is seeking volunteers to coordinate exhibits with specific venues. The program is flexible to incorporate your ideas and value your time. Contact Eileen at GWW@DelRayArtisans.org and Kathy at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Join the Curating Team!
    Volunteer to curate or assist a curator (hanging artwork, data entry / spreadsheets, distributing postcards, people skills). Experienced past curators especially needed, but all volunteers are welcome. Contact Kathy at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Help Curators design their Postcard
    Postcards contain the vital show information: show title, dates, reception information, any special events and other information the curators wish to highlight. Help curators put together this file for the printer. Must have access to software capable of creating printer-ready files (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and be able to email documents.   • Event Photography
    Seeking volunteers to take photos of Del Ray Artisans events for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Volunteer to photograph opening receptions, workshops, regular programs, or markets. We are hoping for around 10-20 photos from each event. Contact Sean at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Photographers Needed to Document Shows
    Seeking volunteers to take photos of each piece of artwork in a show (as well as some overall gallery shots) for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Contact Sean at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Photograph Processing
    Seeking volunteers to process photos for our Flickr Photostream. Task involves cropping, downsizing, color correcting (if needed), and adding meta data (e.g. artist name, title, media, price, show). Must have Photoshop or comparable application. Contact Sean at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
  • Seeking Videographer / Film Maker
    Seeking a volunteer to record a Del Ray Artisans workshop and edit for online viewing. Alternative option is to create an online course explaining an art or art-related activity. Contact John at VP@DelRayArtisans.org

Call for Entry: MOCA New Waves 2017 Juried Exhibition

Deadline: November 27. The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art is holding the New Waves Juried Show. Ken Harma, a gallery owner and curator will be the juror.
