CALL FOR ENTRY

Coloring Book for Grown-Ups

Break out your pen and ink, charcoal, pencils, digital drawing tools, etc., and enter your art for this cool book. Theme: "Around Alexandria" in the past, present, or even future vision or fantasy—Is that a sea monster in the harbor? A statue coming to life? English ivy literally eating that building? Explore Alexandria [real or imaginary] in black and white. No entry fee. Open to all artists. Call for Entry at: TheDelRayArtisans.org/CFE

Under $100: Affordable Masterpieces (Members Only)

Digital entries due: Sunday, October 18. Del Ray Artisans (DRA) members are invited to create precious masterpieces priced at $100 or less. This "cash and carry" exhibit will allow patrons to take home their artwork at the time of purchase. Artists may submit new work or work that has been shown previously at DRA. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Del Ray Artisans members are required to volunteer for at least 12 hours per year to support the organization and its mission. Below are some volunteer opportunities.

Time-Sensitive Requests

2016 Leadership

  • Calling all DRA members: WE NEED YOU!
Please help us maintain the high level of programming we all enjoy by joining our Board in 2016. The slate is being developed now; elections are in October; 1-year term starts January 1. Contact any Board member or email Nominations@TheDelRayArtisans.org to learn about leadership opportunities here at DRA.

Communications

  • eNews Co-Editor position open
This weekly email filled with DRA news and local calls for entry doesn't write itself! Approx 2-hour commitment per issue; must either know Microsoft Word or HTML. Work with the current eNews Editor to divide up the weeks. Great way to "stay in the know" about local art opportunities. Contact Liz at eNews@TheDelRayArtisans.org
  • Layout The Well-Crafted Word newsletter
Interested in laying out Del Ray Artisans monthly newsletter? To volunteer or request more details, contact Betsy at Communications@TheDelRayArtisans.org
  • Post our Events on assigned Online Calendars
Post approved DRA publicity materials on a specific online calendar. Each volunteer will have one or two calendars to update; instructions will be given. Must have internet access. Contact Dawn at Technology@TheDelRayArtisans.org

Curating & Curator Support

  • Join the Curating Team!
Volunteer to curate or assist a curator (hanging artwork, data entry / spreadsheets, distributing postcards, people skills). Experienced past curators especially needed, but all volunteers are welcome. Contact Lesley at Curating@TheDelRayArtisans.org
  • Help Curators design their Postcard
Postcards contain the vital show information: show title, dates, reception information, any special events and other information the curators wish to highlight. Help curators put together this file for the printer. Must have access to software capable of creating printer-ready files (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and be able to email documents. Helpful skills: creative design and content proofing. Contact Lesley at Curating@TheDelRayArtisans.org

Photography & Video

  • Event Photography
Seeking volunteers to take photos of Del Ray Artisans events for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Volunteer to photograph opening receptions, workshops, regular programs, or markets. We are hoping for around 10-20 photos from each event. Contact Sean at Archives@TheDelRayArtisans.org
  • Photographers Needed to Document Shows
Seeking volunteers to take photos of each piece of artwork in a show (as well as some overall gallery shots) for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Contact Sean at Archives@TheDelRayArtisans.org
  • Photograph Processing
Seeking volunteers to process photos for our Flickr Photostream. Task involves cropping, downsizing, color correcting (if needed), and adding meta data (e.g. artist name, title, media, price, show). Must have Photoshop or comparable application. Contact Sean at Archives@TheDelRayArtisans.org
  • Seeking Videographer / Film Maker
Seeking a volunteer to record a Del Ray Artisans workshop and edit for online viewing. Alternative option is to create an online course explaining an art or art-related activity. Contact John at VP@TheDelRayArtisans.org

Programs

  • Help plan workshops and events for Del Ray Artisans
We are looking for volunteers who are interested in supporting and/or helping design and schedule workshops and events at the gallery. If interested, please contact Tamara at Programs@TheDelRayArtisans.org
