CALL FOR ENTRY |
The Color Pink (DRA Members Only)
Receiving: Sunday, Dec 28 and Monday, Dec 29 from 6-8pm.
Artists have used the color pink throughout the centuries to evoke purity, hope, seduction, romanticism, and many other emotions. What can YOU do with the color pink? Will you make something sweet or sassy... sublime or shocking? This show challenges Del Ray member artists to use any shade of pink as little or as much as they like to create an artistic statement and evoke one or more of the many emotions associated with pink. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS |
Del Ray Artisans members are required to volunteer for at least 12 hours per year to support the organization and its mission.
Below are some volunteer opportunities.
Time-Sensitive Requests
- Edit The Well-Crafted Word newsletter
For the January newsletter, article submissions are due to you by December 11; then your edited versions are due in one batch to the layout volunteer by December 14. To volunteer or request more details, contact Betsy at Communications@DelRayArtisans.org
- Holiday Market reception help
DRA is looking for helpers at the Holiday Market reception on Friday nights (December 5, 12 or 19). These hours count towards your 12 required volunteer hours. Please contact HolidayMarket@DelRayArtisans.org to coordinate.
- Warm Up Those Ovens: Bring Your Best Holiday Goodies for the Bake Sale
Help make DRA's Holiday Market Bake Sale the BEST EVER! How can you do that? We need cookies, brownies, muffins, loaves, cakes, candies and any of your favorite, homemade and delicious holiday goodies. Food donations MUST be individually packaged AND priced when dropped off, as we do not have the materials needed to package them once they arrive at the gallery. You can start dropping off baked goodies during the first week of December.
- Looking for Elves to Help with the Holiday Market Bake Sale
DRA is looking for helpers to work 2-hour shifts at the Holiday Market Bake Sale on Saturdays and Sundays in December. All you have to do is be at the gallery during your shift (come early or stay late to shop!), put on a happy face, and sell baked goods to holiday shoppers! Sales benefit Alexandria Tutoring Consortium! These hours count towards your 12 required volunteer hours. Please contact HolidayMarket@DelRayArtisans.org to get on the schedule.
- Join the Board of Directors
The 2015 Board of Directors begins serving on January 1st. We still have a few open Board Positions: Assistant Treasurer and Director of Fundraising Events. If you are interested in a position or in assisting a sitting director, contact the Nominating Committee (Derek Hall, Maria Illingworth, and John Messina) at Nominations@DelRayArtisans.org

Communications
- Co-eNews Editor position open
This weekly email filled with DRA news and local calls for entries doesn't write itself! Approximately 2-hour commitment per issue; must either know Microsoft Word or HTML. Work with the current eNews Editor to divide up the weeks. Great way to "stay in the know" about local art opportunities. Contact Liz at enews@DelRayArtisans.org.
- Post our Events on assigned Online Calendars
Post approved DRA publicity materials on a specific online calendar. Each volunteer will have one or two calendars to update; instructions will be given. Must have internet access. Contact Dawn at Technology@DelRayArtisans.org
Curating & Curator Support
- Join the Curating Team!
Volunteer to curate or assist a curator (hanging artwork, data entry / spreadsheets, distributing postcards, people skills). Experienced past curators especially needed, but all volunteers are welcome. Contact Lesley at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
- Help Curators design their Postcard
Postcards contain the vital show information: show title, dates, reception information, any special events and other information the curators wish to highlight. Help curators put together this file for the printer. Must have access to software capable of creating printer-ready files (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and be able to email documents. Helpful skills: creative design, content proofing. Contact Lesley at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
