All Creatures Great and Small Art Exhibit at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter
Show runs through October 26 at the shelter. Del Ray Artisans and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria present our first animal-themed art exhibit on the walls of the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter (4101 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria VA). Shelter hours for adoption and viewing are: Monday-Thursday 12-7pm, Friday closed, and Saturday-Sunday 12-5pm. Proceeds from the exhibit support the artist, Del Ray Artisans, and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. DelRayArtisans.org/AWLA

Looking for a chance to get together with other creative people to discuss art and exchange ideas? Then, come to a meeting of our cooperatively led Partners in Art group. Life Drawing - Open Sessions
- Wednesday, November 12 from 11-1pm (Gesture)

These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Rescue Me Art Exhibit at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter
Join us for the reception on Friday, November 14 from 7-9pm at the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter (4101 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria VA). Del Ray Artisans and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria teamed up to present this animal-themed, fund-raising exhibit. Both nonprofit organizations receive a percentage of each sale. SocialLights
Tuesday, November 18 from 7-9pm. Whether creating a collaborative piece, sharing ideas on current art events, or brainstorming for the next show, this informal program is designed to provide a positive and motivational environment for artists to network and share ideas. Del Ray Artisans 19th Annual Holiday Market
The Holiday Market features handcrafted work from local artists; handmade ornaments to benefit Del Ray Artisans; plus a Bake Sale to benefit Alexandria Tutoring Consortium. Different artists are featured each weekend! The market is held the first three weekends in December: December 5-7, December 12-14, and December 19-21. Art in City Hall 2014-2015
Art in City Hall is a collaborative program of the Alexandria Commission for the Arts, the Office of the Arts, The Art League, Del Ray Artisans, and the Torpedo Factory Arts Center. Nourish and Flourish: The Food Show
Receiving: Sunday, Nov 2 and Monday, Nov 3 from 6-8pm.
Art inspired by food—realistic or metaphorical, but worthy of tasting, savoring, and digesting. We invite artists to create art that reflects the ways food influences us all, how we gather it, prepare it, and consume it, as we gather around the table. Seeking volunteers to take photos of Del Ray Artisans events for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Volunteer to photograph opening receptions, workshops, regular programs, or markets. We are hoping for around 10-20 photos from each event. Contact John at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
- Photographers Needed to Document Shows

Curating & Curator Support
- Join the Curating Team!
Volunteer to curate or assist a curator (hanging artwork, data entry / spreadsheets, distributing postcards, people skills). Experienced past curators especially needed, but all volunteers are welcome. Contact Lesley at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
- Help Curators design their Postcard
Postcards contain the vital show information: show title, dates, reception information, any special events and other information the curators wish to highlight. Help curators put together this file for the printer. Must have access to software capable of creating printer-ready files (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and be able to email documents. Helpful skills: creative design, content proofing. Contact Lesley at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
Gallery and Grounds
- Adopt-a-Park: Pick Up Litter
Del Ray Artisans volunteers pick-up litter in Colasanto Park which a part of the City of Alexandria's Adopt-a-Park program. Inspections are on Mondays, so Sunday is the best pick-up day but not a hard rule. We only have two weekends remaining that we need volunteers: November 22-23 and 29-30. Thank you to the Adopt-a-Park angels who have helped make this season a success. If you are interested in assisting, contact Marlin with your preferred weekend(s) at AdoptAPark@DelRayArtisans.org
- Garden Clean Up

Call for Entry: In Movement Juried Exhibition
Entry Deadline: Saturday, October 25 between 12-3pm. The 5th Annual Patricia Sitar Arts Expo: Juried Exhibition "In Movement" will be at the Sitar Arts Center's Cafritz Gallery in Washington DC. Artwork must show objects or images in movement or imply movement through use of color, brush stroke, imagery, tonal value or use of perspective, and be appropriate for school age children. 2D works must be no larger than 4’ in width or height and 3D works should not exceed 5’H x 3’D. VMFA Visual Arts Fellowships 2015-16
Application deadline: Friday, November 7, 2014. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is now accepting applications for 2015-16 Visual Arts Fellowships. VMFA is committed to supporting professional artists as well as art and art history students who demonstrate exceptional creative ability in their chosen discipline. Award amount include: $8000 Professional artists, $6000 Graduate students in the visual arts or art history, and $4000 Undergraduate students in the visual arts (including college-bound high school seniors).
