Artists deconstruct their individualized art-making processes to interpret the theme in their unique styles—showcasing two- and three-dimensional work that is painterly, graphic, realistic, and abstract. Sweet 'n Salty at Prudential PenFed Realty runs through February 24
Sweet 'n Salty is a special Del Ray Artisans Gallery Without Walls art exhibit at Prudential PenFed Realty. Artists were asked to "give in to their cravings" to create dynamic and interesting interpretations of this very tasty and feeling-filled theme. Call for Entries: POWER ART Art Exhibit
Receiving: Sunday, Feb. 24 and Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 from 6-8pm. Open to all artists. POWER ART makes others see familiar things in new ways; it evokes emotions. POWER ART can be big and bold, but it can also be quiet and simple. Regardless, it makes the viewer stop, and think. POWER ART is often a philosophical or satirical commentary. Call for Artist Vendors: Art on the Avenue on October 5, 2013
Application deadline for discounted rate: April 1, 2013. Art on the Avenue is a multicultural arts festival organized by the Del Ray Community Partnership. The show welcomes applications from all craft artists and is known for high quality artwork. All work must be original, handmade, created and exhibited by the approved artist. Showcase your most recent and best work, and list materials and retail prices on the back of each photo. Standard booth rate is $165 ($145 for Del Ray Artisans & students) if postmarked by April 1. Call for Entries: Visiting Artist program at the Torpedo Factory

This Program is intended to serve as a professional development opportunity for emerging and experienced visual artists and to expose visitors to a new group of artists and projects. Applicants may apply for a one-, two-, or three-month summer residency (June, July, August). The Visiting Artist has the opportunity for informal collegial exchanges with Torpedo Factory artists. The Target Gallery and the March of Dimes are teaming up to raise money for both organizations with the 3rd annual exhibition fundraiser: March150. The exhibit is not juried and is open to all artists with the requirement that the work must be created on the gallery's provided 10x10" wood panels. The $15 entry fee guarantees entry into the exhibit, a chance to win awards chosen by special judges, and free entry to the Art Party on Friday, March 15. Limit of 3 entries per artist. Call for Entries: Mayhem National Juried Exhibition

Join in the madness, mischief, and monkey business with the aim to create pandemonium, chaos, and discord at Arc Gallery's Mayhem National Juried Exhibition. Mayhem runs from May 4–25 at Arc Gallery, 1246 Folsom Street in San Francisco. No jewelry, video, film, performance, installations, works requiring external electrical source. $35 entry fee for up to three pieces. 60% of sale goes to artists, 40% to Arc. Call for Entries: Beyond Function
Deadline for Entry: March 4, 2013. Beyond Function is a media-specific exhibition with a focus on non-functional ceramic artwork. These works go beyond utility, seeking to be valued for their aesthetic quality over their usefulness. It is open to all artists nationally and internationally. Call for Entries: ArtsCONNECT; Project grants from Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation (MAAF)
Application deadline: March 15. For projects taking place between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation works to increase access to the arts in DE, DC, MD, NJ, NY, PA, VA, WV, and US Virgin Islands. MAAF’s ArtsCONNECT program supports collaborations across the region to facilitate tours of artists involving all performing arts disciplines (including dance, music, theater, & folk/traditional arts). MAAF is dedicated to bringing artists to underserved audiences throughout the region & encouraging meaningful exchanges between artists, audiences, & their communities. Call For Artists: Walk on the Wild Side
Entry Deadline: March 22. Walk on the Wild Side is an animal-themed exhibition of 2D and 3D artists working in all media. It is a fundraising joint project of the Northern Virginia Art Center and the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, both 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. Showcase your talent and creativity while helping AWLA care for animals in need and the NVAC serve and support the arts. All proceeds from submission fees, commissions and the opening reception will benefit both organizations in equal shares. Your submission fee is 100% tax-deductible. Workshop: "From Board Game to Book"
Register by Saturday, March 23. Workshop on Saturday, March 30, 10am-2:30pm. Create a hand-bound notebook or art journal, recycling a game board for covers, using traditional book binding methods and materials. All supplies provided, with precut/predrilled board games available to choose from. You’ll craft your one-of-a-kind Japanese Stab-Bound Book (learning multiple stitch variations), and make your own book cloth from any light to medium weight cotton fabric and interfacing for the spine. Embellish your book using game pieces and other art materials to enhance the cover and inside pages.
