Bring Your Scraps and Come Have Fun with Collage Cut-Ups

• Tuesday, November 13 from 1-4pm
• Tuesday, December 11 from 1-4pm

Come play with the Collage Cut-Ups in a supportive environment that promotes an exchange of ideas, creativity, and networking with beginner and experienced collage artists. Life Drawing - Open Sessions

• Wednesday, November 14 from 6:30-9:30pm (long pose, clothed)
• Wednesday, December 12 from 11:00am-1pm (gesture)
• Wednesday, December 12 from 1-2pm (party)
• Wednesday, December 12 from 2-5pm (short/long pose)

These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $8 for DRA members and $10 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $6 for members and $8 for non-members. Partners in Art is a group of artists that meets regularly to share goals, report on progress, obtain feedback on current artwork, and discuss topics of interest to the group. Del Ray Artisans' Holiday Market: Nov. 30–Dec. 2, Dec. 7–9, Dec. 14–16

The 17th annual Holiday Market offers handmade work from local artists, a children's table where little ones can shop for family members, and handmade ornaments. Bake Sale benefits the non-profit Computer CORE. The Market runs for three weekends: Nov 30–Dec 2, Dec 7–9, and Dec 14–16. Different artists each weekend! Shades of White Opening Reception: Friday, January 4, 7–10pm

White isn't "just white"! Chill out after the holiday madness in shades of white—tones and hues range from blues to beiges to yellows and more. Shades of White, a Del Ray Artisans all-member show, runs: January 4–27, 2013.

Shades of White All-Member Art Exhibit

Receiving: Sunday, Dec. 30 from 6-8pm and Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 from 4-7pm. This all-member, all-media show challenges DRA artists to think beyond the ordinary by creating their compositions in shades of white. White isn't "just white"! Del Ray Artisans members are required to volunteer for at least 10 hours per year to support the organization and its mission. Below are some volunteer opportunities.

• DRA's Holiday Market Bake Sale:
  Each year, DRA members and friends make baked goodies to sell at the Holiday Market. Even better, the Holiday Market is 3 weekends long this year and the money collected goes to Computer CORE (computercore.org). Start thinking of some goodies to share with friends and customers for this year!
• DRA's December Fundraiser – HANDMADE ORNAMENTS!
  We are bringing handmade ornaments back to the Holiday Market! Help DRA raise funds for the new lighting that was purchased earlier this year by making and donating an ornament or two. Drop off your finished handmade ornaments at the gallery anytime the gallery is open (Thursdays 12-6, Fridays 12-9, Saturdays 10-9, Sundays 12-6). Please sign your name on the back so the purchaser knows it is handmade.
• Holiday Market Reception Food Coordinator
  Each Holiday Market weekend has a reception on Friday night. We are looking for someone to line up food from local restaurants and assign helpers for each Market reception. Please contact Tracy Wilkerson at HolidayMarket@DelRayArtisans.org if you are interested or would like more information.
• Holiday Market Bake Sale Coordinator (BSC)

Call for Artists: Seeking Instructors for Spring 2013 Senior Arts Festival

Proposals Due: Friday, November 9, 2012. Goodwin House Bailey's Crossroads will host a Senior Arts Institute in the Spring of 2013, thanks to a Project Support grant from the Arts Council of Fairfax County. The Institute will consist of daily art classes that will be offered in various 'worlds of the arts' including theater, dance, music, visual arts, handcrafts, and photography. Senior adults, as well as creative arts staff from senior service organizations, are the primary attendees of the classes. Each session will be reimbursed at $125 per session. Pastel Workshop: The Pastel Society of Virginia Hosts Maggie Price

Deadline: Friday, November 9, 2012. The Pastel Society of Virginia (PSV) is pleased to host Maggie Price, internationally known and respected pastelist/author, Veteran's Day weekend November 10-12 at the Franconia Governmental Center. The theme is developing your vacation photos into pastel paintings. You're welcome whether you're a beginner or more advanced. Workshop: Recycled "House" Book, with DJ Gaskin

Call for Poets: City of Alexandria Poet Laureate

Nominations due: Monday, November 26, 2012 by 5pm. The City of Alexandria's Office of the Arts is in search of a Poet Laureate to promote an appreciation of poetry as an art form, encourage the creative writing and reading of literature, and promote literacy through poetry. The individual will serve as Poet Laureate for three years and receive a modest honorarium. Submit nominations to the Office of the Arts, 1605 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA 22314. Call for Entries: Fabricated: An Exhibition of Wearable Art

Deadline for Entry: December 3, 2012. Fabricated is an all-media exhibition featuring "wearable art," which refers to individually designed pieces of handmade clothing or jewelry created as fine or expressive art. While the making of any article of clothing or other wearable object typically involves aesthetic considerations, the term wearable art implies that the work is intended to be accepted as a serious and unique artistic creation or statement.
