Life Drawing

Life Drawing (long poses) on Wednesday, July 20 from 6:30-9:30pm

The life drawing sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. Get Sparked! at DRA gallery

Get Sparked! Art inspired by writing; Registration due July 22

Join Del Ray Artisans and SPARK: art from writing/writing from art as we embark on an artistic journey that pushes boundaries. This show is unique for DRA: All art submitted must be created between July 26 and October 3, 2011 and done in response to a story or poem provided to you. Art Camp

Seeking Volunteers for Art Camp on July 25-27
between 9am-4pm

Spend an hour, a day, or a week with some inspired teachers and 25 great young art campers, as we travel around the world in 5 days, learning and having fun all the way this summer! A few dedicated DRA volunteers are needed to assist our camp leaders to make this happen. Contact ArtCamp@DelRayArtisans.org to learn how you can help.

Art Camp show: Saturday, July 30

Art Campers will travel on an international expedition through the arts. Each day features projects or activities related to different cultural traditions and artistic movements. The week culminates with a gallery show of campers' art on Saturday, July 30. Please note that this show is one day only.


States of Mind exhibit opens Friday, August 5, 7-10pm

Seven über-volunteers are showcasing their artwork in this mysteriously named show. Join them as they welcome you into their creative world. The opening reception is on Friday, August 5 from 7pm-10pm. A Silent Auction runs the length of the show (August 5-28). For more information, visit: DelRayArtisans.org.

We need help with the August 5th Opening Reception (food/drink prep, setting up, and clean up) and Gallery Sitting during the month of August. Seeking Volunteers to Help With Program Workshops

[DRA members only] This is another rewarding way to meet your volunteer commitment and takes less than 1/2 hour per workshop. Duties include taking roll, collecting fees, and placing fees in a lockbox. Interested members should contact Volunteers@DelRayArtisans.org or Membership@DelRayArtisans.org for details.

Call for Entry; Dia de los Muertos: The Art of Remembrance at Target Gallery (NEW)

Deadline: August 29, 2011. The Torpedo Factory Art Center presents its Third Annual Day of the Dead celebration from October 24 - November 4, 2011. The altar exhibition returns to the main floor of the art center and will be hosted by the Target Gallery. Local and regional artists are invited to submit altar proposals. Call for Crafters; Belle View's Annual Craft Show (NEW)

Event date: Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Belle View Town Center (1204 Belle View Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22307) from 9am-3pm. Rain Date: Saturday, October 1, 2011. One-of-a-kind handmade creations will be available for purchase. Jazz music will be available along with food and refreshments. A limited number of spots for crafters are available for purchase ($10 per spot) at the Belle View office. Crafters will need to bring their own tables and chairs for set up. If you are interested in renting a space, please contact the Belle View Condominium Administrative Office at 703-765-8775.
