DRA Members Meeting on Sunday, May 15, 6-8pm:
Website Mysteries and more Revealed!

Come one, Come all! You are invited to our May all members meeting on Sunday, May 15th from 6-8 pm at the Del Ray Artisans gallery.

After announcements and business, we will reveal the secrets to our website! Dawn Wyse Hurto, Kelly Cox and Fransi Kaye will give you an overview of the latest features, including online workshop registration, Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and LinkedIn!

And if that's not enough, Betsy Mead will take the mystery out of what should be included in an artists' statement – what is one, anyway? What should be in a bio? a CV/resume?

Light refreshments will be served. We look forward to seeing you soon!

3rd Annual Yard Sale inside the gallery on Saturday, May 21, 8am-2pm

Yard Sale Donations

We will accept almost anything: books, home accessories, kitchen stuff, furniture, etc. We will NOT accept the following donations: mattresses, major appliances (stove, dishwasher, etc.), and fuel-based machinery. We begin accepting donations at 6pm on Sunday, May 15—a great time to drop off your donation and attend the membership meeting!

If you are unable to donate any of your treasures there are other ways you can give. This year we will be accepting baked goods and yard plants. Spring is the time to split those plants in the yard or bake; we will accept those donations on Thursday and Friday, May 19 & 20. Monetary donations are accepted at any time.

Donation Dates

Sunday, May 15, 6pm-8pm (yard sale items only)
Monday, May 16, 7pm-9pm (yard sale items only)
Thursday, May 19, 1pm-8pm (yard sale items, live plants, baked goods)
Friday, May 20, 1pm-8pm (yard sale items, live plants, baked goods)

Volunteers Needed

We need volunteers to help with set up and selling:

• Thursday, May 19 from 6pm-9pm to price the donations
• Friday, May 20 from 6pm-9pm to price the donations
• Saturday, May 21 for three-hour shifts

We also need strong people to help move the donations. After the yard sale, any remaining items will be donated to Goodwill. To volunteer, contact Yard Sale Coordinator Kurt Peterson at DRA.VicePresident@gmail.com

Reception and Silent Auction on Tuesday, May 17, 6-8pm at Prudential Carruthers

Del Ray Artisans Gallery Without Walls program is exhibiting It's only Rock 'n' Roll, But I like it! at Prudential Carruthers. DRA members are invited to the artists reception and silent auction for The Sunshine Kids, a charity that benefits children with cancer, on Tuesday, May 17th from 6-8pm in the Prudential office located at 300 N Washington St, Alexandria, VA 22314. Please RSVP for the reception to Becky Arnold (Becky.Arnold@pcrmove.com, 571-345-6175) and come support your fellow artists.

The exhibit will be on display until July 31, 2011. The Prudential office is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm for show viewing.

To donate artwork for the silent auction (benefiting The Sunshine Kids) or for more information, contact Becky (Becky.Arnold@pcrmove.com) or Drew (DRA.curatorcoordnator@gmail.com). Donations must be arrange no later than May 16th.
