Beyond Form at Signature Theatre

Beyond Form: Expressing Art Exhibit at Signature Theatre
Opening Reception: Monday, March 14, 7 - 10 pm

Please join us for beverages, light snacks and harp music. This is a juried selection of pieces from the current abstract art show at the DRA gallery. This all media, abstract art show will be exhibited in the lobby gallery of Signature Theatre (4200 Campbell Ave, Arlington, VA 22206) in conjunction with their run of "ART" by Yasmina Reza in which a white-on-white abstract painting plays a leading role! Exhibit runs through 6/12/11.

Prudential Carruthers/DRA Gallery Without Walls Opening Reception:

Tuesday, March 15 from 6-8pm in the Prudential Office located at 300 N. Washington St, Alexandria VA. 22314. Reception is open to all DRA members so drop by and support your fellow artist. This special GWW art exhibit "A New Artist Year" will be on display until May 1, 2011. Prudential Office is open M-F 9am-5pm for show viewing. Del Ray Artisans is about to embark on its 2nd season of monthly outdoor art markets. These markets will give members an opportunity to sell their original handmade art work and provide them with consistent exposure to the community. Just a few spots available - Act quickly! There will be 6 monthly markets on the 1st Saturday of the month on: May 7, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3 and November 5, 2011. Open Life Drawing Sessions

Wednesdays, March 16, 23. Open life drawing continues at the Del Ray Artisans gallery. These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models.

  • Mar 16, 6:30-9:30 pm Long Pose;
  • Mar 23, 11-1 pm Gestures & 2-5 pm Short/Long Pose.

Abstract Art Workshop: Revealing What Is Hidden

Saturday, March 12 from 10 am-1 pm. Workshop/panel discussion by Artists/Teachers/Historians who will discuss Abstract Art history/genre. Bring a finished or unfinished abstract art piece for constructive comment. Workshop fees: $10, DRA members; $15, non-members. Maximum number of participants 25. Open Call for Entry: It's Only Rock 'n' Roll But I Like It!

Workshop: Drawing the Clothed Figure with Alice Kale

Sunday, April 3 from 1-4 pm with optional discussion from 4-5 pm. Practice drawing the clothed model in a simplified manner intended to express the underlying human form. Drawing session will run from 1-4 pm. Refreshments and an optional group discussion on what we learned from 4-5 pm. Fees are $15 for DRA members, $18 for non-members.
