Celebrating Movement Exhibition: November 26-28

Celebrate movement with DRA over Thanksgiving weekend! Art show plus events on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon.

Jazzy Art View (Friday, 7-9 pm) - featuring NVCC Alexandria Jazz Ensemble.

Red Hot Salsa (Saturday, 7-9 pm) - Salsa dance lessons and open floor dancing.

Poetry Tea Party (Sunday, 2-4pm) - original poetry reading and networking.

Holiday Mosaic Workshop

Holiday Mosaic Workshop: November 30 - December 1

Art In City Hall

Art In City Hall Reception: November 30

Art In City Hall is a biannual, multi-organizational exhibit held at Alexandria City Hall. Members of Del Ray Artisans, the Torpedo Factory Artists Association, and the Art League were all invited to submit. There are 4 Equal Merit awards given in the amount of $200 each (from each of the participating organizations: DRA, TFAA, The Art League, and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts). At the reception, awards will be given to winners and the mayor will be in attendance. Reception from 5pm-6:30pm. Gallery Without Walls Reception: December 1

Prudential Carruthers Realtors Invites you to their opening reception for DRA's traveling Gallery Without Walls, featuring selected works from Once Upon A Time by the Del Ray Artisans. Join them for wine and cheese and meet the artists! Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 6:00-8:00pm. Fine Art & Craft Holiday Market: December 3-5

Join us for the 15th annual Holiday Market at Del Ray Artisans! The Market offers unique handmade fine arts and crafts from 20 exhibitors (including pottery/ceramics, photography, jewelry, cloth, paper crafts, and glass), beautiful poinsettias from West Landscapes LLC, and delicious Bake Sale items with proceeds to benefit the local community. Open Life Drawing: December 8 and 15 (Wednesdays)

Practice drawing live models during an Open Life Drawing session. All skill levels are welcome. Sessions are drop-in. No registration required. Bring supplies. Gestures: (11 am - 1 pm) This two-hour session will be comprised primarily of a series of dynamic 1-5 minute poses. $6 for members and $8 for non-members.

Poses: (2 pm - 5 pm) This three-hour afternoon session will start with some short warm-up poses and progressively move into longer poses (10-45 minutes). $8 for members and $10 for non-members.

Warm Up Those Ovens! Holiday Market Bake Sale Goodies

Bring Your Best Holiday Goodies and help make DRA's Holiday Market Bake Sale the BEST EVER! How can you do that? We need cookies, brownies, muffins, loaves, cakes, candies and any of your favorite, homemade and delicious holiday goodies. Food donations MUST be individually packaged AND priced when dropped off, as we do not have the materials needed to package them once they arrive at the gallery. You can drop off baked goods on Thursday, December 2, from noon-8pm; Friday, December 3, from noon-9pm or Saturday, December 4, from 10am-2pm.

Request for Volunteer Muralist

Submission deadline: November 30. We are looking for an artist or art student eager to volunteer their time to create a mural at Mt. Vernon Elementary during the January intersession. Mural should contain some element of native plants of Virginia and be whimsical and fun. Consider the possibility of incorporating a "paint by numbers" component to encourage students to get involved [mural dimensions are 9'w x 5'h]. FCA 2011 Call for Artists: Passport to the World - VA

Entry Form Deadline: December 17, 2010 at 5pm. Falls Church Arts (FCA) All-Member Show kickoff event for a "Passport to the World" includes music, dance, storytelling, and art festival at ArtSpace.
