October brings a taste of Asia

If you are skilled in traditional Asian art forms or you’ve found inspiration in the Orient, then this is the artistic outlet for which you have been waiting.

Artists may submit up to three original, previously unseen, Asian-related artworks

for this exciting exhibit showcasing the arts, people and culture of Asia. See the enclosed call for entry for details.

Also seeking artists and others willing to demonstrate traditional Asian culture-related skills in the DRA gallery during Art on the Avenue October 2.

When choosing a restaurant to visit, remember those who care about your community.

Marlin Lord and Kathryn Brown extend their thanks to everyone who attended  the opening or visited their show An August To Treasure.

The Well Crafted Word

Sometimes we wonder if it’s an opening with food or dinner and a show.

For the opening of the An August to Treasure show patrons were treated to a wonderful array of foods from local Avenue restaurants.

Please consider spending your dining dollars at any of the following: Bombay Curry Company, Caboose Cafe, Evening Star Cafe, Los Amigos Tex-Mex Restaurante, Los Tios Grill, St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub, Taqueria El Poblano, Thai Peppers Restaurant or Village IL Porto Ristorante.

2004-05 Calendar of Events

Del Ray Artisans members and friends enjoyed a dip in the pool followed by a dinner of grilled hotdogs and lots of ice cream with decadent toppings and mounds of whipped cream. Also joining us were Brian Banner, head of the Alexandria City pools, and several City lifeguards who kept watch over the water-soaked.

Many thanks to Brian for letting the pool stay open a few extra days so our membership could enjoy it.

Board members, recent Board nominees and committee chairs "worked the

room" letting members know about upcoming events, as many exciting

things are being planned.  Brian Banner is interested in coordinating some events with DRA that would take place poolside, so watch for announcements regarding Summer of '05. If you might be interested in being part of this, contact Susan Slattery at summerh@erols.com or
