Note to Mask artists:
Artists submitting masks
will receive their discounted tickets ($10.00 per mask entry) when their
completed masks are dropped off at the gallery.
Several artists expressed
the need for more time to work on their creations. Additional Mask due dates
have been arranged. They are October 14 & 15 from 6-8:30 PM.

Okay everyone, it’s time
to “face” it, MASK-SCARA is coming! DRA is brewing up some fun for funds!
Saturday, October 30th, at 7:30 PM the spirits will start stirring around the
amazing display of unique mask art created by artists near and far.
We encourage you to
arrive in costume and be ready for the bidding of these one-of-a-kind
“maskerpieces!” We will also be offering you chance at prizes but you may
have to reach into a coffin for your “trick or treat” when the “Masker of Ceremonies” calls your
number! So gaze upon goblins, dance
with devils and watch out for witches as you enjoy some “finger” foods and
perhaps sip some potion as DRA hosts
another fabulous party where you and
the art are the guests of honor!

Alexandria Festival of the Arts

The weekend of September 11th and 12th Alexandria
hosted the 2nd Annual Festival of the Arts on King
Street in Old Town.
The beautiful weather brought thousands of art lovers out to enjoy the
event.
As a part of this year’s festival, there was a Regional Artists
Juried Exhibition. Forty-four
artists submitted up to three pieces each. Of these, 24 had a single piece
juried into the show, with ten of those selected identified as being
Del Ray Artisans! DRA members included were: Martin Angebranndt, Kathryn Brown,
Kimberly Bush, Barbara Chiminello, Paula Lantz, Marlin
Lord, K. Alexa Murphy, Patrick O’Brien, Lise Schioler,
and Eve Stocker. Bravo!
Additional congratulations to Kathryn
Brown, whose photograph titled “Prismatic Scatter” won one of the three

|
Honorable Mention awards which honored those selected with cash
prizes. There was also a First
Place award given.
Del Ray Artisans had a table set up to display our information to
attendees. Many thanks go to Vivienne Lukacs, Volunteer Director, for
lining up the following members to sit the table on Saturday and Sunday:
Amoret Bell Bunn, Dianna Diatz,
Diane McClaugherty, Kristine Lingle, Karen Schmitz, Mary Shockley, Alice
Rogalski, Alicyn van Dijs, Carrie Beauchamp, and Barbara Chiminello.
And thanks also to Marlin Lord for bringing the items for
display to and from the gallery. The festival was a marvelous way to reach
out to the greater Alexandria
community.
