..................since
1992
graphic design, printmaking, pottery, mixed media, and more by a
judging panel of professional artists.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, May 7th
from 7-9:30PM, and will feature live musical entertainment. The recipient of the Del Ray Artisans-Ted
Eichers Memorial Art Scholarship will also be announced during the
reception.
Again this year, the herculean effort of installing this show is
being coordinated by Linda Silk.
She and her crew work long hours arranging and hanging this show. If you
would like to help with the hanging of this year’s show, contact Linda at lmsilk@worldnett.att.net
Gallery hours during the show are: Saturdays 10:00am-4:00PM, and
Sundays noon-4:00PM.

For the eighth consecutive year the Del Ray Artisans are the
sponsoring organization for the Annual Student Art Show.
From May 7th through 23rd, the gallery space
of the Del Ray Artisans (DRA) will be filled with vibrant artwork from
nearly two hundred students who attend school in Alexandria. An annual tradition since 1997, DRA
sponsors this exhibition of artwork by students enrolled at Minnie Howard
School, F.C. Hammond Middle School, George Washington Middle School, and
T.C. Williams High School.
Always an eye-opening experience, the Student Art Show allows
budding artists to “strut their stuff” in a public forum and gives the
community a chance to connect with these tweens and teens on a different
level.

Can you just STAND it? Remember the times we had at the first DRA
Fun-n-Games event in 2002? Remember the mile-high chapeaus worn by the
curators, the music, the neon?
We’ll we’re baaaaack! Yep, Fun ‘n Games Redux rolls its carnival
tent into town on June 4th, with a pre-opening viewing on the 3rd,
and a 6-week long run. We’re planning to have face painting, tarot card
reading and games for children.
We need artists to make sure there are plenty of new works for this

plenty of new works for this longest running show of the DRA year.
Pick up a call for entry at the DRA gallery, and join the fun!
Keep in mind that the last one of these shindigs brought huge crowds to the
opening and a high visitor count during the run of the show. See our
article on p.3 about specifics for help we need, or contact Jen Chappell, 703.765.1510,

Sturgis, Jennifer Thompson, and Janice Weiser.
Coordinator Rob Rudick hopes to see you and
your friends, with checkbooks. It is a great opportunity to see a lot of
art from a lot of artists. There
will be specially priced unframed prints and matted works as well as
ready-to-hang pieces. The timing of
the sale will also afford buyers a chance to purchase unique, one-of-a-kind
gifts for Mother’s Day.
We need a few more hands
to help on the day of the event. If
you’re interested call Rob Rudick
at 301.270.2323. Special thanks to Linda Silk for creating the post
card and posters for the sale.
