MARK YOUR CALENDAR

First Thursday

Thursday, July 5 from 6-9pm. Del Ray Artisans celebrates First Thursday, a Del Ray community event from 6-9pm along Mount Vernon Avenue from April through September. The theme for July is “Red, White, and Blue.” The gallery does not host an art exhibit in July, so the gallery will not be open to the public; however, now is a great time to sign up for Grown-Ups Art Camp workshops!

Call for Entry: Ancestry

Digital entries due: Monday, July 23. The twenty-first century has brought us the ability to look into our ancestry, race, ethnicity, and heritage in ways we’ve never been able to before. Who we are and where we come from is clearer and murkier at the same time. The people in our family who have passed on, the places they visited and/or came from, and where we grew up, lived and loved are still important to who we are today. The Ancestry exhibit is a members-only exhibit to showcase the strength and diversity of Del Ray Artisans community. Call for entry at DelRayArtisans.org/2018/05/ancestry-cfe

Call for Entry: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry National Ceramic Show

Digital entries due: Sunday, August 5. This is a hybrid art exhibit that combines a national ceramic show, focused on vessels for the dining table and food, with a regional non-ceramic show. This call for entry is for the national ceramic show. Ceramic art must be three-dimensional vessels for the table (e.g., cups, bowls, plates) made primarily from clay and 100% functional with food-safe glazes. Entries should not exceed 10" high and 24" wide or deep and not weigh over 10 pounds. Cup, bowl, or plate sets are eligible. Accepted ceramics that are being shipped should be received by August 24. Two $150 prizes will be awarded by the juror, Lisa York. Read all entry details carefully. Show runs September 7-30, 2018. Call for Entry at DelRayArtisans.org/2018/04/eat-drink-merry-national-cfe

Partners in Art

Monday, August 6 from 2-4pm. Looking for a chance to get together with other creative people to discuss art and exchange ideas? Then come to a meeting of our cooperatively led Partners in Art group. This program is free of charge and open to all. Donations ($1–3) greatly appreciated. Contact Katherine Rand (katherine@katherinerand.com) or Suzanne Tillman (zannet@verizon.net) with questions.

Life Drawing - Open Sessions

  • Wednesday, August 8 from 2-5pm (Short/Long Pose)
  • Wednesday, August 8 from 6:30-9:30pm (Long Pose)

The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Call for Entry: Eat, Drink, and Be Merry Regional Exhibit

Digital entries due: Sunday, August 19. This exhibit celebrates the way that food and drink brings people together and joy to our lives. Artwork should be inspired by food, real or metaphorical that nourishes the viewer or highlight the rituals and places that celebrate the social gathering around sustenance. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry is a hybrid art exhibit that combines a national ceramic show with a regional non-ceramic two- and three-dimensional show. This call for entry is for the regional non-ceramic exhibit. Artwork receiving for accepted non-ceramic artwork is on Sunday, September 2 and Monday, September 3 from 6-8pm. Show runs September 7-30, 2018. Call for Entry at DelRayArtisans.org/2018/04/eat-drink-merry-local-cfe
