Call for Entry: Reinvention at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital

Digital entries due: Monday, February 26 by midnight. Del Ray Artisans' Gallery Without Walls program challenges artists to look at the “bones” from one of their own prior pieces and reinvent it with a new message/color scheme or we invite you to reinvent yourself as an artist by working in a medium outside your comfort zone. Seeking 2018 Summer Art Camp Administrator

Deadline: Friday, February 16. We are accepting applications for the 2018 Summer Art Camp Administrator. This role is a paid position, and assumes leadership and supervision of the camp, including instructor and volunteer selection, and management of day-to-day operations. Camp dates are July 16-21 and July 23-28 from 9am-4pm daily, plus gallery shows on July 21 and 28 (open to the public from 1-3pm). Life Drawing - Open Sessions

These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Art Squared Art Exhibit

Runs through February 25. Art² (Art Squared) explores the synergy of art with mathematics, science, technology, and engineering. Symmetry, geometry, and measurement create artwork. Scientific disciplines inspire art—anatomy builds figure paintings, geology pervades landscapes, and meteorological events create drama. The exhibit overlaps with National Engineering Week. Call for Entry: Atomic Dog

Digital entries due: Monday, April 23 by midnight. Sponsored by The Dog Store of Del Ray, Del Ray Artisans is accepting submissions for Atomic Dog, a show for dog lovers and artists of all breeds. Artistic expressions of canines and their characteristics of all kinds are welcome, whether realistic or abstract. Call for Proposals: 2019 Art Exhibits at Del Ray Artisans

Proposals due: Sunday, July 1 by midnight. Del Ray Artisans is currently soliciting show proposals for 2019. Del Ray Artisans strives to offer exhibits that reach a broad and diverse audience, encourage artistic development, and represent a wide variety of art forms. The show proposal committee will review all proposals and make recommendations to the Board for final approval.   Are you interested in learning about exhibit curating at Del Ray Artisans? Are you looking for a way to get more involved? Would you like a volunteer position that would also bump up your art resume? The Director of Curating is looking for an apprentice to shadow her and learn the ropes, with the eventual goal of assuming her position. • Photographers Needed to Document Shows
  Seeking volunteers to take photos of each piece of artwork in a show (as well as some overall gallery shots) for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Contact David at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
• Photograph Processing
  Seeking volunteers to process photos for our Flickr Photostream. Task involves cropping, downsizing, color correcting (if needed), and adding meta data (e.g. artist name, title, media, price, show). Must have Photoshop or comparable application. Contact David at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
• Seeking Videographer / Film Maker
  Seeking a volunteer to record a Del Ray Artisans workshop and edit for online viewing. Alternative option is to create an online course explaining an art or art-related activity. Contact John at VP@DelRayArtisans.org

Alexandria Arts Program Grant Applications

Due February 23, 2018. Alexandria is accepting applications from individual artists as well as groups. Application must be online as well as hard copy. Grant funds are available to eligible arts organizations and individual artists for operations, programs and special projects that occur in Alexandria between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019. Online application forms, instructions, and frequently asked questions for all grant programs will be available online at www.alexandriava.gov/Arts on January 2, 2018.

Call for Entry: Communication Arts 2018 Photography Competition

Deadline: Friday, March 9. Enter the most prestigious competition for creativity in photography. Any photograph first published or produced from March 2017 through March 2018 is eligible. Selected by a nationally representative jury of distinguished designers, art directors and photographers, the winning entries will be distributed worldwide in the Communication Arts Photography Annual, in print and digital editions, and on commarts.com, assuring important exposure to the creators of this outstanding work. Call for Artists: Art on the Avenue 2018

Submit application by April 1 for the reduced booth fee. Art on the Avenue is a multicultural arts festival organized by the Del Ray Community Partnership. The show welcomes applications from all craft artists and is known for high quality artwork. All work must be original, handmade, created and exhibited by the approved artist. Standard booth rate is $185 if postmarked by April 1. The event is Saturday, October 6 from 10am-6pm. Details: ArtontheAvenue.org
