Annual Member Meeting, 2018 Board Elections (Next Week)
MEMBERS: The annual member meeting will be held on Thursday, October 19 at 7pm, and all members in good standing will vote on the nominations for the 2018 Board of Directors. Attend the meeting and enjoy the October exhibit Captured Beauty plus hear more about the innovative 2018 exhibit schedule. If you cannot attend, we urge you to make a Proxy vote by Sunday, October 15. If you can attend, get your vote in for pepperoni, cheese or veggie pizza with an RSVP to Drew at Membership@DelRayArtisans.org.
Del Ray Artisans is looking for members to serve on the Board of Directors in 2018, especially in the seats of the Director of Outreach, Director of Programs, and Director of Volunteers. Call for Entry: $100 and Under
Digital entries due: Friday, October 20 by midnight. Del Ray Artisans invites members to submit their best work priced at $100 and under. All media and all themes are welcome. Art that has previously been shown is welcome in this exhibit. The art will be sold on an art-to-go basis, with buyers taking art home when purchased. Call for Entry: 2018 Wall Calendar (Members Only)
Digital entries due: Saturday, October 21. Members: Submit your best work to the 5th annual Del Ray Artisans' wall calendar! All entries are to be received digitally, and no physical pieces of art will be collected. There is no entry fee, no theme, and work previously shown at the gallery is acceptable. Your Del Ray Artisans membership must be up-to-date. This calendar is a fundraiser to benefit Del Ray Artisans, but also a fun way to show your support for our arts organization and share your talent with the community. Workshop: Love to Make Stuff from Stuff
Saturday, October 28 from 10am-12pm. Join artist and instructor Rusty Lynn in a workshop where you can learn and explore how to make small or large sculptures and figures from boxes with glue, wire, tape, bits of plastic, ephemera, oddities, and acrylic paint. The sky is the only limit! Instructor will provide supplies, but feel free to bring your own. Please register in advance. Life Drawing - Open Sessions

These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Captured Beauty Photography Exhibition
Runs through Sunday, October 29. Del Ray Artisans and Union 206 Studio present “Captured Beauty” exhibition showcasing artists’ visions of beauty as fine art photography. The camera is a tool to make art revealing the artist’s vision and producing a personal – evocative or atmospheric, yet aesthetic – statement. Details at DelRayArtisans.org
$100 & Under Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Friday, November 3 from 7-9pm. The $100 & Under exhibit features art priced at $100 or less. Buyers may take art home when purchased. Additional artworks will be added as others are sold. Partners in Art
Monday, November 6 from 2-4pm. Looking for a chance to get together with other creative people to discuss art and exchange ideas? Then come to a meeting of our cooperatively led Partners in Art group. This program is free of charge and open to all. Donations ($1–3) greatly appreciated. Workshop: Creating Collage Papers from Coffee Filters and Alcohol Inks
Monday, December 4 from 10am-12pm. This workshop, taught by collage artist Mary Kralj, will demonstrate and explore how to create papers with saturated color and a contrasting metallic webbing that will be suitable for future art projects such as collage, bookmaking and multi-media. All necessary supplies provided by the instructor. Instruction fee: $30 for Del Ray Artisans members and $40 for non-members. Supplies fee: $15 per person. The web posting team needs you! We're looking for volunteers to post exhibit and event information to Virginia.org and Northern Virginia Magazine websites. - Photographers Needed to Document Shows

- Seeking Videographer / Film Maker

National Disability Awareness
Deadline extended to Friday, October 20 by midnight. The United States Patent and Trademark Office’s Disability Working Group is hosting a National Disability Employment Awareness Month event on October 26. As part of the event, they will be exhibiting artwork focusing on ability, accessibility, inclusion, and the struggles in the disabled community. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is interested in exhibiting paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art, photographs, statues, 3D artwork, poems, songs, spoken word, and performance pieces. Please download the submission guidelines and form to submit your artwork. Contact the USPTO Disability Working Group with any questions at dwg@uspto.gov
