Call for Entry: 2017 Calendar (Members Only)

Digital entries due: TODAY (Friday, October 28) by 11:59pm. Members: Submit your best work to the 4th annual Del Ray Artisans' calendar! All entries are to be received digitally, and no physical pieces of art will be collected. There is no entry fee, no theme, and work previously shown at the gallery is acceptable. Your Del Ray Artisans membership must be up-to-date. This calendar is a fundraiser to benefit Del Ray Artisans, but also a fun way to show your support for our arts organization and share your talent with the community. Cat-urday Toy Making Workshop

Saturday, October 29 from 10am-12pm. Celebrate National Cat Day by making toys for your feline! This workshop gives you all the tools you need to make felt mice & birds, wine cork candies, and a classic stick with string taunting toy, as well as an optional T-shirt cat tent (bring t-shirt). $5 supplies fee. Local Flavor Art Exhibit (Final Weekend)

Runs until Sunday, October 30. The Local Flavor art exhibit at Del Ray Artisans showcases member artwork that highlight the things they adore, crave, and experience in their beloved neck of the woods. A Call To Service at VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital (Final Weekend)

Exhibit extended through October 30. Del Ray Artisans' Gallery Without Walls and VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital present A Call to Service, an exhibit honoring the people and animals who contribute to the welfare of others. The artwork is by Del Ray Artisans member artists and is displayed in the waiting areas and examination rooms of VCA Alexandria Animal Hospital (2660 Duke Street, Alexandria VA). H20/WATERWORKS Art Exhibit Opening Reception

Friday, November 4 from 7-9pm. Del Ray Artisans member artists present a visual exploration of humankind’s relationship to water, or lack thereof, through 2D and 3D media. They express water’s effect on us and our effect on water, for enjoyment, health, political, ecological and environmental outcomes. The exhibit runs November 4-27, 2016. Hiring Assistant Office Manager

Del Ray Artisans’ Personnel Committee is seeking to hire an Assistant Office Manager for the organization. This is a paid position on Thursdays and Fridays, 12-6 pm. Position entails greeting visitors and general office work with emphasis on organizational skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Partners in Art

Monday, November 7 from 2-4pm. Looking for a chance to get together with other creative people to discuss art and exchange ideas? Then come to a meeting of our cooperatively led Partners in Art group. This program is free of charge and open to all. Donations ($1–3) greatly appreciated. Life Drawing - Open Sessions

These sessions operate on a drop-in basis so there is no need to register in advance. Bring your supplies and join us at the gallery to draw or paint our live models. The fee for each 3-hour session is $10 for DRA members and $12 for non-members. 2-hour sessions are $8 for members and $10 for non-members. A.C. Moore Fundraising Day for Del Ray Artisans

Friday, November 18 from 9am-9pm. You can raise money for Del Ray Artisans while stocking up on your art and craft supplies for the winter! On November 18 from 9am to 9pm, A.C. Moore shoppers who bring in the FUNDRAISE flier, or show it on their phone, will have 10% of their purchase donated to Del Ray Artisans! • Adopt-a-Park: Pick Up Litter
  Del Ray Artisans volunteers pick up litter in Colasanto Park, which is a part of the City of Alexandria's Adopt-a-Park program. Inspections are on Mondays, so Sunday is the best pick-up day but not a hard rule. We need volunteers to sign up for weekends now through November 30. • Online Posting of Del Ray Artisans Exhibits & Events
  The web posting team needs you! We're looking for volunteers to post exhibit and event information to Virginia.org and Northern Virginia Magazine websites. • Join the Curating Team!
  Volunteer to curate or assist a curator (hanging artwork, data entry / spreadsheets, distributing postcards, people skills). Experienced past curators especially needed, but all volunteers are welcome. Contact Kathy at Curating@DelRayArtisans.org
• Help Curators design their Postcard
  Postcards contain the vital show information: show title, dates, reception information, any special events and other information the curators wish to highlight. Help curators put together this file for the printer. Must have access to software capable of creating printer-ready files (e.g. Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and be able to email documents.   Seeking volunteers to take photos of Del Ray Artisans events for our archives and Flickr Photostream. Volunteer to photograph opening receptions, workshops, regular programs, or markets. We are hoping for around 10-20 photos from each event. Contact Sean at Archives@DelRayArtisans.org
• Photographers Needed to Document Shows

• Seeking Videographer / Film Maker
  Seeking a volunteer to record a Del Ray Artisans workshop and edit for online viewing. Alternative option is to create an online course explaining an art or art-related activity. Contact John at VP@DelRayArtisans.org

Call for Entry: MOCA New Waves 2017 Juried Exhibition

Deadline: November 27. The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art is holding the New Waves Juried Show. Ken Harma, a gallery owner and curator will be the juror.
