Building Bridges Silent Auction proceeds benefit Six Degrees Consortium, a 501(c)3 non-profit

Runs through Saturday, June 27. Via Delarosa is a piece of art that is composed of storm debris from Hurricane Katrina. A sister from Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis recovered a hand-carved station of the cross from the damaged church, and gave it to artist Lori K. Gordon. Gordon restored the damaged wood and combined it with a fragment of a carpet that was salvaged from the beach near Our Lady. Gordon chose the carpet fragment to represent the ruined homes of Gulf Coast residents; and the copper elements (also storm debris) were inspired by the story of the old woman and her pieces of copper in Mark 12:42. The piece is part of Gordon’s “Katrina Collection” which can be found in private and public collections around the world. Come to Del Ray Artisans gallery to bid on this unique and touching piece of art. For information on the work of Lori K. Gordon, visit: www.lorikgordon.org

Building Bridges Art Exhibit

Show runs through Sunday, June 28. The exhibit is at Del Ray Artisans gallery in partnership with Six Degrees Consortium (founded by Lori K. Gordon) and features the artwork of Del Ray Artisans members and Mississippi Gulf Coast artists. The juror and curators present pieces that visually interpret the building of bridges between peoples and cultures. Details: DelRayArtisans.org
